Bradley Galgut
BVSc (Hons), Diplomate ACVP (Clin Path) Specialist Veterinary Clinical Pathologist Owner and Director, Aurora Veterinary Pathology I studied Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne and graduated with honours in 2003. I developed a keen interest in clinical pathology during my three years in general practice in Australia and England, which led me to the USA and a clinical pathology residency at Kansas State University. I became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2010. After returning to Melbourne, I spent 12 years working for corporate pathology laboratories as a diagnostic pathologist and in leadership and management roles that involved expanding laboratory operations and services, implementing new tests and systems, overseeing quality management and accreditation activities, training technical staff, and managing pathologist, laboratory and client services teams. In 2023, I joined Independent Veterinary Pathology as a cytologist in their specialised anatomical pathology laboratory. Working with a like-minded team passionate about providing a personalised, efficient, and cost-effective diagnostic service, it was here that our vision of Aurora Veterinary Pathology was born and brought to life. My primary interests include diagnostic cytology, haematopathology, and clinical chemistry of companion animals, horses and avian/exotic species, as well as laboratory quality management.

Mitchell Wan
Owner and Director, Aurora Veterinary Pathology My heritage is Papua New Guinean Chinese and I moved to Brisbane in 1979. I have worked in pathology laboratories my entire career. In 2011 I started my own medical anatomical pathology laboratory, Infinity Pathology, as an alternative to the corporate pathology models, and shortly thereafter, Independent Veterinary Pathology (IVP). Aurora Veterinary Pathology complements IVP, allowing us to provide a more complete pathology service to our clients. I am passionate about providing high-quality, personalised pathology services, with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Deb Kirkham
Laboratory Manager I had a gap year after finishing school and went to work at the University of Melbourne after my dad suggested that I should “get a job in a lab”. I discovered that I love working in a team and supporting others with their complex projects. This led to me studying Medical Laboratory Science at RMIT, graduating in 1992 and scoring my dream job that year at the Melbourne Veterinary School in Clinical Pathology. I spent more than 30 years as the laboratory manager in Clinical Pathology and gained vast experience in all facets of the role. I was trained by some of Australia’s best specialist clinical pathologists and developed a passion for serving the veterinary community by providing the most helpful, efficient, high-quality diagnostic service possible. My main interests are biochemistry, endocrinology, and coagulopathies, particularly von Willebrand Disease. I have a strong clinician and patient focus and I get a lot of satisfaction from assisting patient care from behind the scenes. I am very excited to join the Aurora Veterinary Pathology team and offer veterinary practices an exemplary pathology service.
