Our Partners
As part of our commitment to providing services of the highest quality, we are proud to partner with the following experts in their respective fields:
- 01 Histology: Independent Veterinary Pathology
- 02 Microbiology: Veterinary Microbiology Diagnostic Laboratory
Independent Veterinary Pathology are a team of dedicated professionals with a wealth of experience. Their excellence in histology is born from a resolute commitment to the highest quality standards both within their state-of-the-art, NATA accredited laboratories (ISO 15189) and throughout the whole reporting journey. Their team of highly skilled and experienced anatomical pathologists are committed to providing timely and accurate results with a focus on enhancing the care of your patients.
IVP have a passionate and uncompromising approach to service and their sophisticated, industry leading software system enables them to stay agile so they can adapt to your team’s histology and reporting requirements.

The Veterinary Microbiology Diagnostic Laboratory is affiliated with the Melbourne Veterinary School, Faculty of Science, The University of Melbourne, a recognised leader in veterinary education and research in Australia and abroad. The laboratory has continuously provided microbiology diagnostic services to clinicians, pathologists and consultants since 2005. Its expertise encompasses multiple aspects of bacteriology and mycology for companion, production, and wild animals, including:
- Culture, taxonomic identification and strain typing.
- Antimicrobial susceptibility testing by agar disc diffusion assay and sensititre® broth microdilution MIC test.
- Environmental surveillance of infectious risks in animal facilities.
- Molecular or immunological detection of specific pathogens.
- Whole or targeted genomic sequencing and analysis.
All clinical isolates are placed in cryo-protective media for long-term storage along with the submission records, a practice rarely used as part of routine diagnostic services. To date, the laboratory holds approximately 5,000 bacterial stock cultures representing over 100 genera and 250 species of pathogens isolated from Avian, Bovine, Canine, Caprine, Equine, Feline, Ovine, Porcine, and Exotic/unusual hosts. This unique strain collection allows to investigate recurrent infections of patients and/or contaminations of veterinary hospital environments, perform follow-up tests specially requested by veterinarians to manage complex cases, track variations in resistance patterns, test efficacy of novel antimicrobial compounds, or perform comparative phylogenomic or molecular epidemiology studies.
The laboratory also provides customised support for applied research projects to University academics and commercial companies, and works in close collaboration with the Asia Pacific Centre for Animal Health (APCAH), a multidisciplinary group focusing on the epidemiology, pathogenesis and control of infectious diseases of domestic and wild animals.
